the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer (be
en-couraged*); I have overcome the world. *
These words added by author Ephesians
1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe,
according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when
he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, What
did JESUS save you for? Do you know?
Do you know for sure? Was it to be nice? To be good?
To be weak, mild, a pushover? When
you act in a powerful way, do you feel guilty, as though you are not acting in a Christian-like
manner? Here is an interesting thought.
When GOD created Adam (the first human) only Eden
was safe and civilized. The rest of the world was wild and untamed! Think
of it: How fierce and uncivilized the world was before the first human began to
do what humans do. Not an accident.
GOD sent Adam into it all to tame things a bit.
Lions, tigers, bears, snakes, elephants, rainstorms, wind, ice, snow . . . .
"Here you go, Adam," the LORD may have
said . . . . "Have fun!" GOD
trusted in the power HE vested in Adam to begin
the process of taming this world. I just don't think that the characteristics we
use to describe today's man or woman of GOD would
suffice in this wild world of Adam! And
it is no different today. Too often the church is turning people into
mild-mannered Clark Kent types, when what the world needs is a Superman (or woman)! That
is not a call to jump off a roof to see if you can fly! But this world is wild.
Your world is wild. To tame it takes some resolve and wildness on our
part. It takes a firm belief that GOD is
with us, that we are empowered by HIM and that we can
be courageous. Maybe it is in raising
your children, going to school and resisting peer-pressure, working under someone who
does not have your best interest in mind, remaining in a marriage that would be too
easy to break apart . . . . Everyday tasks that we need courage to perform! Trust
in HIM! I mean really trust in HIM.
Here is a great verse. Believe it and see your life change toward the
courageous! Tame your world! 2
