Today's
E-Votion Patience:
The ability to stand strong no matter what hostile device is assaulting you (my
definition) James Chapter 1 26
If any man
among
you
seem
to be
religious,
and bridles
not
his
tongue,
but
deceives
his own
heart,
this man's
religion
is vain.
GospelSeek.com Don't
get me wrong . . . . Words are important. HIS
Word is Very Important. So are our words. But there is a facet to our
speaking that is vital to understand. As
we learned yesterday, we are to be doers and not just hearers of the Word.
Turning that principle around, we are to be "mean-ers" and not just
speakers of our words. We should "say what we mean and mean what
we say." Here is an example:
I recently embarked (not fully my choice) on a time of drawing closer to my LORD.
I mean by "not fully my choice" that I love the easy life and don't
ordinarily choose hard times. So I said
. . . . "LORD, I draw closer to you.
Now your Word says when I do that YOU will draw
closer to me!" The actual Scripture I was "helping the LORD
remember" is: James
4:8 Draw
nigh
to God,
and
he will draw nigh
to you.
Cleanse
your hands,
ye sinners;
and
purify
your hearts,
ye double minded. But,
as you see, the second half of that Scripture talks about cleansing and purifying my
heart. And let me tell you, that does not come without a struggle! And,
so, since the LORD always honors HIS
Word (Bless HIS Name!) I am now going through a
time of cleansing and purification. Ouch! But
if I want to live a real life with JESUS (and I
do), I am going to have to walk my talk. Good news, though. So are you!
I am glad that I have company. We start with our words, but the LORD
takes up the challenge from there and walks us through the difficult times that
bring us to a fuller and more joyful relationship with HIM! Don't
be afraid. HE always completes the job!
