"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you..  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.  "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?  If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your FATHER in heaven give good gifts to those who ask HIM!  So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets."   Matthew 7:7-12

The Golden Rule Revisited 

The Golden Rule.  You have heard it, right? "Do unto others as you would have them to do unto you."  is the format I in which I learned it.  I learned it in public US school. What comes to your mind when you hear that?  

What does this mean to you?  Well, to me it always meant "If you want someone 
to be nice to you, you better be nice to them."  Or as a child, it was used as a disciplinary threat device "If you don't want Johnny to bite you, don't bite him!  Remember The Golden Rule. . Do unto others . . . ."  

Here is a revolutionary approach to this Principle that CREATOR instituted for our welfare and blessing.  Actually , less than "instituted, this (and all Scriptural Principles) "flow" from HIS nature!

What do you lack?  FATHER has a gift for you in that area.  Read the context of the Word above.  Good gifts, then The Golden Rule.

In the world we have phrases of "success" like - "Dog-eat-dog" and "Climbing the ladder of success on the backs of our peers."  The message is "Take from others what you would have for yourself."  Right?

JESUS' message is, as always. the opposite of the world message.  Or reverse that.  JESUS came first!  HE says, (paraphrase) "If you need something, help someone else in that same area, and it will be yours."

OK.  Now I am going to temporarily lose you . . .  But hang with me till the end, then test HIS Word!  

If you need a new car, help someone else get one!

If you are behind on your bills, help someone pay a past-due bill!

If your children need clothes, find someone in greater need than you and take them shopping!

If you want to start your own business, find someone who already has and support theirs!

Hey!  This works for other things:

If you need a friend, be a friend!

If you are lonely, visit a nursing home!

If you need comfort, give comfort!

Are you with me?  We can be trapped into the world-self idea that whatever we need is what we must hold on to the tightest.  But that is not HIS way to blessing.  HIS way is to stop holding on!  Let go and be a blessing to receive HIS blessing.
