The LORD'S Plan For Your Supply!
(Editor's note: The Hebrew notion of Salvation (Deliverance) included much more than forgiveness and eternal life. Salvation meant freedom from debt, worry, fear and sickness. Power over enemies, total victory and possession of a land was integral to the concept. Today many believers have been put off by hyper-prosperity teaching. This teaching may have been responsible for many believers retreating entirely from the True Gospel, which portrays CREATOR as SUPPLIER!
"I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And my God will meet (Supply) all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Philippians 4:18-20 What I see happening is great controversy, though not often spoken, over just what Supply means in reference to CREATOR. CREATOR has a vision for our well being that far, far, far, far and far exceeds our vision for ourselves. Actually, it is exceeding, abundant and above and beyond ALL that we are able to ask or think! HE sees us as having no worry, no lack, no fretting, no complaints . . . And, by the way, what is the source of the above if we do experience them? Usually a, well . . I guess I should speak plainly, they usually result from a lack on money. Some disclaimers: You cannot serve two masters! Serving CREATOR and money (KJV - mammon) is not possible. But did you know that it is probably easier to serve money when you LACK it than when you have what you need. More disclaimers: Does Godliness require you to be rich, then? Heavens no! In fact, though not Biblically errant to be rich, it is noted that it is very difficult. So what is the right spot to be in? Easy. Having Enough! (And more so that you can be a seed planter!) Paul noted that he had learned the secret of living patiently though times of need and also dealing honorably in times of abundance. This is good. But, most of the time when Paul was in need, it was due to the stinginess of several churches in their lack of support. (Read all the Pauline Epistles. AHHH! Homework! Sorry!) Quickly then, what did JESUS through Paul mean when HE said that our GOD would Supply all our needs. Well, THAT'S WHAT HE MEANT! It is CREATOR'S heart to Supply HIS children! But! (Oh yes, there is a but!) HE set out a principle, a plan and provision for us to follow. Not following this plan is to "de-rail" our cargo train. That is where many of us have been. And are. And it hurts us. And it hurts HIM. A closing analogy . . . A parent sends desperately needed funds to a son in college. By previous phone conversation, parent has told son which post office and box number to find the Supply. Child either forgets this information, never listened in the first place, or has stubbornly refused to go to the correct location and is demanding the wrong post office to give him his mail! Result is a sad dad and a sad kid! It's the same with CREATOR.. HE has sent the principal, plan and provision. Maybe we have de-railed our cargo. Result - sad FATHER - sad CHILD! But, even now, remember that CREATOR came to us as FATHER! Like a FATHER, HE is pleased when we, HIS children are well taken care of. We must make every effort to cast off tradition that has made us much like the spies in the promised land who refused to go in to the land of promise. So let's open our hearts and minds to HIM and be supplied! |
