How Much More Will HE Supply You!
(Editor's note: The Hebrew notion of Salvation (Deliverance) included much more than forgiveness and eternal life. Salvation meant freedom from debt, worry, fear and sickness. Power over enemies, total victory and possession of a land was integral to the concept. Today many believers have been put off by hyper-prosperity teaching. This teaching may have been responsible for many believers retreating entirely from the True Gospel, which portrays CREATOR as SUPPLIER!
"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!" Luke 12:27-28
This is a story I am about to share. I am telling you, not because I am proud of what happened, but because the SPIRIT used it to teach me something. I believe it will speak in to your lives, as well. Once I was leaving a school where I was teaching music. It was a summer camp. My daughters were with me. They were 5 and 10 at the time. We were having fun. We were laughing and kidding around. A good day. Then I spied a roadside stand that was selling tree ripe Georgia peaches. If you have never had one, take my word - A rare treat. I told the girls I would get some. We were hot and hungry. We were excited. I got out and approached the stand. When I asked the price, I was shocked at how expensive they were. I had just enough, but we would have gone without dinner. I went back to the car and told my girls we could not afford them. I felt bad. Then I saw their faces and I really felt bad. As I drove home I had tears in my eyes. I swore that this would never happen again. You see, when I looked upon my girls sad faces, something tore inside me. It was bigger than peaches. It was the fervent and burning desire to see my children enjoy good things. That's the story, but here is what the SPIRIT showed me. If I being human with a finite love, rip and tear inside when my children miss a blessing, How Much More does my HEAVENLY FATHER break and tear when we, HIS precious ones, miss HIS blessing. You see, tradition has robbed us and it has robbed HIM. We have a FATHER in heaven who has gone literally out of HIS way (came to earth, paid the price) for us to "eat good fruit" so to speak. As our Scripture says concerning the lilies, How Much More shall HE clothe us, and then HE says, "O you of small faith." HE is not mad at us, HE is sad. And, once again, it boils down to trusting HIM! Faith! Let us not disappoint HIM any more. Believe that HE truly desires to Fill our needs to the Full, as HE says! Don't "read" anything in to HIS Word. Just read HIS Word. |
